                     MainStage Season    Forum Reading Series

If your book club or group is looking for a real in-depth exploration of the new play development process, we have put together some options for you.

Our Forum Reading Series is an annual new play reading festival that brings together some of the best writers working in the country today. Culled from over 200 scripts, we present concert readings of 12-17 plays over a three-week period, including a week of professional writers based in New Jersey. Professional actors and directors rehearse a new work between four and six hours, and then present a reading that evening. Post-reading talkbacks with the author, director and artistic director are included. Click here for a list of plays from our most recent series.

We provide a number of options for your book club or group, from discounted single reading passes, to a variety of discounted Forum Passes that will get you into all of the plays for one low price. There's even options for you to be a "fly-on-the-wall" in afternoon rehearsals.

You can attend as a group, or individual members may strike out on their own. The only requirement is that all passes must be purchased at the same time. Purchases can be mixed, i.e., the group can buy a number of differernt passes in the same purchase. All group sales policies apply.

Forum for Book Clubs Options

Forum for Book Clubs-- Basic Single

Our Forum Series, which presents plays in a reading format, with a post-show discussion, is ideal for the activities of book clubs.  As part of the Forum for Book Clubs Program, here is what we can provide on a Basic level:

  • An electronic version of the script sent to the primary contact for the group, which can then be distributed to the members of the book club, or, access to the script through PTNJ’s website (requires individual registration). Paper, copying, and mailing expenses prohibit us from providing hard copies of scripts, hard copies can be arranged for an additional fee.
  • Admission to the readings.
  • Post-show discussion.
  • Free post-show coffee or tea to accompany the discussion.

Cost: $7.00 per member  (30% discount)
