FAQ

How big is your theatre?
We have 100 seats.

What kind of parking do you have?
We have free parking in our lot and also on Green Village Road.

Can I pick my tickets up ahead of time or will you mail the tickets to me?
We hold all tickets at the Box Office because we have a liberal exchange policy, which allows us to accommodate special requests and last minute changes (subject to availability).

Do you have concessions?
Yes, we have a variety of healthy snacks and candy as well as water, soda, tea and coffee.

Are there restaurants near your theatre?
Yes, there are many different dining options within a 5-minute walk of the theatre.

Are you accessible by train?
Yes, via NJ Transit Dover line. There are no buses that stop in front of our theatre.

Is your theatre air-conditioned?
Yes.

What is the arrangement of your seating?
They are tiered. We have 8 rows with 12 seats across. The last row has 16 seats.

Can I take pictures during a performance?
We are a professional Actors’ Equity Theatre. The taking of photographers or recordings via video camera or phone is strictly prohibited

Do you have post show discussions?
Yes, on selected evenings. For exact dates, please contact the Box Office at 973-514-1787 X10.

What is your ticket exchange policy?
We are happy to accommodate ticket exchanges, subject to availability.

What is your late seating policy?
Latecomers will be seated at management’s discretion at an appropriate time during the play.

Is there an intermission?
Depending upon the play, there could be an intermission. If the running time of the play is short enough, signage in the lobby will indicate that there will not be an intermission.

Are you wheelchair accessible?
Yes, both our theatre and our restrooms are barrier free.

I want to bring a group. Who should I contact?
Please contact our box office at 973-514-1787 to arrange any groups or book clubs.

Do you have gift certificates?
Yes, we can accommodate any amount. Please inquire at the Box Office.

Do you accept donations at the Box Office?
Yes, you can make a donation at any time, online, via mail or at the Box Office.

What is the Creative Arts Academy (CAA) at Playwrights Theatre?
The CAA program IS...
... A learning center where students are encouraged to express their ideas, thoughts and opinions.
... An environment that fosters each child’s individuality and imagination first; their talent second.
... Led by a committed and experienced team of professional artists/educators.
... Focused on providing each student with an equal opportunity to experience the art form.
... Dedicated to building community in the classroom and beyond, where every member of the group is valued.

The CAA program isNOT...
... Product based. The final presentation is an extension of the learning process, not the focus of the camp.
... A place where the positive experience during camp is reflected by amount of lines each child receives.
... An institution that dictates one method of teaching or performing.
... A training camp for future Broadway stars.

What happens if my child is sick?
If your child is sick, or otherwise cannot attend a session, please contact the Education department as soon as possible by phone or email. If your child becomes ill while at Playwrights Theatre, the teaching artist, or another member of the Playwrights Theatre staff, will contact you via the phone numbers that you provided when registering your child.

Who should I contact if I am going to be late to pick up my child/need to pick up my child early?
We ask that you make every effort to pick up your child at the stated end time of each session; however, if you find that you will be delayed, please call the Education office directly at 973-514-1787, ext. 21.

If you need to pick up your child before the end of class, please notify the teaching artist who conducts your child's class as soon as possible. It is helpful for the theatre to have a written note, or to hear from a parent directly. Children of any age will not be released from class when being picked up early. Parents must come to the child's classroom in order to pick up early.

Where can I find information about inclement weather days?
If Playwrights Theatre is going to cancel a class due to inclement weather, or any other reason, the Education department will contact each student's parents via the phone number and/or email address provided by the parent during registration. You may also call the Education department at 973-514-1787, ext. 21 where an announcement about class will be recorded. Please note that Playwrights Theatre typically will record this message only in the event of a cancellation. We will also post cancellations on the homepage of the website in the updates section.

How many students are in a class?
The Creative Arts Academy classes at Playwrights Theatre require a minimum of 6 students in order to hold the class. We attempt to cap the class at 20 students although some exceptions might be made under special circumstances.

Are there discounts available for classes?
Yes, we offer multiple student or multiple class discounts. Please contact the Education Department at 973-514-1787 X21 for details. We also offer discounts via our email blast only. Sign up on our mailing list to receive these offers.

Do you offer snacks?
Yes, we offer pretzels, gold fish and animal crackers as well as water and juice.
