The Dragon Savior by Helen Anderson

  • No one believes that Maria saw a dragon in the woods. So, Maria must protect the dragon alone when a hunter seeks it. Doing so will require her to make an important sacrifice for her new friend.

 The Magical Closet by Dana Henry

  • Emily’s stuffed animals desperately want to see what she keeps in the closet. In order to make the journey across the room from their regular spot on the bed, the three animals must work together.

 City Life by June Sung

  • Casey’s father has a new job, which means they need to move from Sweetenville to the city. Everything Casey has ever known is in Sweetenville and she just knows that things won’t be as easy for her as her Dad seems to think.

 The Indians’ Story by Michael Jakucionis

  • President Andrew Jackson has signed the Indian Removal Act into law forcing many Native American tribes to begin a journey to land in the West. Both sets of Americans must weigh the consequences of doing what is right for themselves and for their communities.

 Just Like My Dad by Georgia Turvey

  • Tara has always been strong and caring just like her father. When word arrives that Tara’s father has died in the war, she needs his help to remain strong.

 As the Portal Opens by Alexandra Kramer

  • Rachel and her friends are jailed for speaking their minds, but things are only going to get worse for these citizens of Mars. As criminals, they are likely to disappear into the large portal that is about to open.

 Lucky in a Closet by Ally Shahidi

  • Karen rescues a lost puppy from a cold autumn day. She names the dog Lucky, allows him to live in her closet, and tries to hide him from her parents who do not approve of Karen having a dog.

 Friends Forever by Rae Crescas

  • Vanessa and Gabriella decide to create a video for a school contest. The pressure of getting everything done on time puts a strain on the girls’ friendship placing both the project, and their friendship in jeopardy.

My History Report: How Dinosaurs Became Extinct by Carrie Klein

  • Everyone has a theory about how the dinosaurs became extinct. According to Dina Winfield, those theories aren’t correct and only she knows the truth.

Goodbye Kyle by Madeline Dunn

  • Charlie is an awkward, unpopular kid and constantly under attack. To make things worse, his mother and his friend, Penny, encourage him to say goodbye to his best friend… his imaginary friend, Kyle.


Stories from My Lake House by Libby Johnson

  • Casey's mother tells her a bedtime story about the family lake house that involves a case of mistaken identity and the consequences of lying.

Madison’s Biggest Problem by Danielle Chung
 

  • Everything seems to be going well for Madison Finn until her parents decide to get a divorce. When nothing seems to be going right, Madison finds hope all over the school.

The Wizard of Oz Returns by Emily Bliss

  • The Wizard of Oz seeks the help of three children to help locate the missing Munchkins… those “donut thingies,” not the people.

The Diary by Kaitlin Ferdenzi

  • Laura and Rosie discover a valuable, old diary in Laura’s attic and make a pact not to share the news with anyone. The two friends find themselves in danger when Rosie can’t contain the news about their discovery.

The Path to Friendship by Mackaella Goodwin

  • Everybody is a little different. That fact turns out to be a problem for a group of friends in a new school, especially when they meet Kim. But friendship has a way of smoothing things out.

A Space Adventure by James Crimmins

  • For John’s birthday, he and his odd friend Luke get to visit the NASA offices where their fathers work. The boys get a much closer look at space than they ever imagined and John has a birthday that is out of this world!

Tornadoes, Arguments and Friendship by Liam Gannon

  • On a very hot day at the baseball field, Benny and Robby are grabbed by a tornado and carried to the other side of town.
