Program Overview - College Interns
College Internship:
Playwrights Theatre’s 10-week Summer Internship Program is a part-time, paid internship for college/university students majoring in theatre and/or theatre education who have completed their Sophomore, Junior or Senior years of their undergraduate career. Working with the Education Department Staff will provide candidates with the unique opportunity to enhance their studies with a practical, hands-on approach to arts education.
Interns will divide their time between administrative support for the Summer Camp & other, year-long educational programming, as well as performing the duties of an Assistant Teacher in one or more of Playwrights Theatre’s summer classes. This combination of classroom and office experiences will offer valuable insight on the various aspects of running an Education Department.
In addition, Education Department staff will provide several opportunities for dialogue about the internship, allowing student to make valuable connections between their practical experiences and their educational goals. Staff will make themselves available for meetings to discuss the well-being and progress of interns, as well as allow and encourage them to observe classes throughout the summer.

Dates: June 22 – August 28, 2009 (flexible based on Fall semester schedule)
This is a paid position
Interns must guarantee a part-time commitment of 20 hours a week for the duration of the program
An orientation period prior to June 22nd is required

Program Overview - High School Students
Playwrights Theatre is offering summer internships to interested High School students. Interns will work with the Education Department and Summer Camp staff in a program that will provide candidates with the unique opportunity to enhance their interest and studies in theatre with a practical, hands-on approach to arts education.
Interns will provide administrative support for the Summer Camp & other, year-long educational programming. This may include clerical duties, oversight of Camp arrival and dismissal, technical/crew support for class presentations, and other related activities. Opportunities to assist with Camp classes may be possible, as per candidate interest/experience and Camp needs.
Schedules may be determined in consultation with the Education staff based on candidate availability and the needs of the Education Department.Program Details

A letter of interest from the candidate explaining why they wish to intern with the Education Department at Playwrights Theatre.
A resume, or list of theatrical activities.
Application Deadline:
The Education Department will accept applications for High School Interns throughout the summer. However, preference will be given to those applications received prior to June 2nd, 2009.
