WRITERS PROJECTSpecial Initiatives
These residencies energize and empower distinct constituencies. The New Jersey Writers Project has extensive experience working with special populations. A limited number of full grants and partial grants are available for the 4-day Basic Residency and the Language in Motion Assembly.
For Schools and/or Community Groups
- Spanish Language Initiative - Participate in a Spanish language or bilingual residency and experience a LIM assembly.
- K-8 Initiative - Creative writing residencies for schools in Abbot Districts (urban and rural) to hone skills and inspire creativity at an early age. May include a LIM assembly.
- At-Risk Initiative - For juvenile detention centers, prisons, shelters, group homes and housing projects. Curriculum is created in partnership with the site.
- Complete Access Initiative - Addresses the physically, emotionally, and developmentally challenged populations. Curriculum is created in partnership with the site.

Contact the Playwrights Theatre Education office at (973) 514-1787, ext. 14 about available grants. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Grants are limited, so apply early.
