WRITERS PROJECTLocal Initiatives
Districts provide students at different schools with the same quality arts enrichment experiences, that conclude with a community event to celebrate the achievements of all the participants. Built specifically for each locale, Playwrights Theatre administers residences at multiple sites within the community.
Current Local Initiatives include:
The Madison Young Playwrights Program teaches playwriting in every elementary school in the Madison School District. Select plays tour participating schools and an annual festival of representative work is held at Playwrights Theatre.
The Newark Young Playwrights Program offers poetry, prose and playwriting residencies to school and community groups in the city of Newark. Professional actors perform select student works during a Language in Motion Assembly at each school.
The Camden Writers Project offers residencies and assembly programs in poetry, prose, playwriting and other disciplines to schools in the city of Camden. Professional actors perform select student works during a Language in Motion Assembly at each school.
The Cranford Young Playwrights Program teaches playwriting at schools in the Cranford School District. Professional actors perform select student works during a Language in Motion Assembly at each school.
