WRITERS PROJECTArt and Community Programs - Unique Visions and Voices
School-Wide Creative Arts Initiative
Supplement your school curriculum, and provide a creative outlet in the classroom for youngsters to explore and understand their unique experiences and stories.
How it works: Playwrights Theatre will visit the school, meet with administrators and key teachers, make an assessment and design a program that will best meet individual classroom and school wide curriculum goals.
Getting Started: Contact Alysia Souder, Director of Education at Playwrights Theatre (973) 514-1787, ext. 14, or email her at asouder@ptnj.org to schedule an assessment meeting at your school.
Young Playwrights Workshop and Festival
A unique and comprehensive experience in which students develop a deeper understanding of the play development process and intangible aesthetics of creating art.
How it works: The Artistic Team works with 3 classes of students (1.5 hour sessions each) for 6 sessions to develop select one-act plays. The plays-in-progress are acted out, discussed, and improvised as the students learn to effectively give and receive feedback. Authors of the workshopped plays receive specific critiques. All students practice critical thinking and learn valuable revision skills through this process. Includes a staged reading performed by professional actors for the entire school.
Rates: 6-day program (includes an assembly) - $4,400. Partial grants available.
